Fushimi is famous for its sake in Kyoto, but in fact, it seems that sake breweries in Kyoto first started in the city (Rakuchu), an area blessed with high-quality groundwater. We are introducing a label that we were commissioned to create for Sasaki Sake Brewery, which was founded in 1893 in Rakuchu and is now the only sake brewery in Rakuchu with a 130-year history. To the north of the company is Jurakudai, a mansion built by Toyotomi Hideyoshi to enjoy his hobby of tea ceremony, and on the grounds of the mansion is where Sen no Rikyu built a house with a tea room and is said to have used Ginmeisui water for tea ceremonies. Blessed with high-quality water, the company uses water from the former site of Jurakudai in their sake brewing.

Our business with Sasaki Sake Brewery began when they introduced a labeling machine that attaches labels to sake bottles. After that, when we paid them a courtesy visit, we asked them if we could make a design proposal, and that's how we started doing business with them. At the time, the design was typical of sake, with calligraphy on white washi paper. However, the president, who is the fourth generation owner of the brewery, had in mind the saying in Kyoto that "business in Kyoto is about continuity rather than profit," and wanted to renew the label to a gorgeous and beautiful design that is "elegant" and elegant, befitting the ancient capital of Kyoto, in order to make sake that will be loved by the next generation. Furthermore, since Kyoto is a popular tourist destination that attracts many tourists from both within Japan and overseas, he envisioned a refined design that expressed a sense of Japan while also exuding a sense of luxury.

Proposal

First, we asked about the type, flavor, price, and purpose of the alcoholic beverage (daily/gift), and then gathered designers together and began creating the design. We proposed 10 elegant designs, including elegant yet glittering designs and colorful modern Japanese designs, and received positive feedback from the company president, who said, ``The quality exceeded our expectations.'' As a result of an internal vote, we decided on a design with a drop motif, which was proposed to express the character of a sake brewery located in Rakuchu while also imagining the water that is essential for sake brewing. We adopted a luxurious yet elegant design with gorgeous Japanese patterns, silver and blue foil stamping, and the gloss of the label paper.

Starting with the design of this product, we have been increasingly asked to propose designs for new projects.
Compared to the beginning, we have been able to make the products on store shelves more colorful, and every time we hear President Sasaki say, "If we ask Osaka Sealing Printing, we can get the design we want," it gives us confidence. Currently, we are working on one-stop support, which is our strength, not only for labels but also for packaging products, film products, promotional POP, etc. Osaka Sealing Printing will continue to propose not only label printing, which is the main business of Osaka Sealing Printing, but also to give shape to the "information, functions, and thoughts" transmitted by Sasaki Sake Brewery, and to convey its appeal to consumers, with the spirit of being a partner that conveys its appeal to consumers.

Designer in charge

When creating designs, we are particularly conscious of accurately understanding product features and expressing them through design, and using design to solve customer issues. Our designers at Osaka Sealing Printing are knowledgeable not only about design, but also about paper quality, printing machines, and printing methods. Having knowledge of these three areas is a strength that other companies do not have, and we are able to suggest printable designs while imagining how they will look after completion. Once again, I believe that the key point in getting the design adopted was that we were able to create and propose the product based on the idea of what color the sparkling luster would shine in.
