request

We have been doing business with Asahara Brewery for some time, and we still receive requests for stickers and labels for sake bottles. When we visited Asahara Brewery, they consulted us about releasing a new product using pouches instead of bottles. Since pouches are light and unbreakable, they are suitable as souvenirs, and they are targeted at tourists from overseas. We heard their thoughts on "We want to create a product with a Japanese design" and "We want to create an eye-catching appearance that will increase the value of the product."
The challenge was that it was difficult to differentiate our products from those of other companies just by expressing a "Japaneseness" through sticker and label designs. In addition, we heard that it was difficult to stick stickers on the pouches because the surface is soft, so we wondered if there was a way to solve this problem other than the stickers and labels that we had been proposing.
Proposal

Asahara Brewery provided us with a photograph of a kamishimo (traditional Japanese formal attire) as the image for the design. Using that photograph as a basis, we worked with the designer to fine-tune every detail, and after about three months, we completed a package design with a samurai image. To prevent the paper package from being crushed, we placed a transparent box over it, but we were particular about the size until the very end, so that the shoulders would not stick out, and as a result, our customers were pleased with the result, saying, "We made something great."

Sales in charge
Asahara Brewery is a long-established customer, having been founded in 1882, but they also value taking on new challenges. The reason they decided to use pouches this time was because they wanted to try manufacturing and selling amazake, and started selling it in pouches. This was the first time I proposed using Carton Package, but I feel that it was because they are a customer who is open to new challenges that we were able to make it to the point of commercialization. As the number of overseas tourists gradually recovers, we hope that demand for this product will increase in the future.
